Caregivers of persons with disabilities lack a network of support on the community and national level.
CaringSG's CAREconnect programme provides holistic caregiver support through the creation of a caregiver database, organisation of activities, and training of grassroots and community volunteers.
The programme consists of the following components:
- - CaringSG Alliance Network (CAN): A national digital caregiver network consisting of an alliance of more than 21 disability-specific support groups.
- - CAREconnect events: Inclusive national and neighbourhood-based events for caregivers and persons with disabilities
- - CAREkaki programme: A grassroots and community volunteer training and collaboration programme that enables volunteers to identify and approach persons with disabilities and their families to provide relevant support, organise accessible community events, and champion future inclusive initiatives.
These provide natural touchpoints for caregivers and build resources within the community.
Caregivers and persons with disabilities will be empowered to make better and more informed decisions through access to evidence-based knowledge.
Existing caregiver services would be better utilised as caregivers will be directed to mainstream and community service providers, leading to better caregiving outcomes
Overall, caregivers and persons with disabilities will be engaged and supported in daily community living and neighbourhood events.
